1. SAFETY RULES FOR OPERATING YOUR
FIREPLACE
Use only a Valcourt glass door, specifically designed for the model FP 10 Lafayette.
When cleaning the fireplace, the ashes should be placed in a metal container with a
tight fitting lid. The closed container of ashes should be placed on a non-combustible
floor or on the ground outside the house, pending final disposal. If the ashes are
disposed of by burial in soil or otherwise locally dispersed, they should be retained in
the closed container until all cinders have thoroughly cooled.
We recommend that our woodburning hearth products be installed and serviced by
professionals who are certified in the United States by NFI (National Fireplace
Institute®) or in Canada by WETT (Wood Energy Technical Training) or in Quebec
by APC (Association des Professionnels du Chauffage).
