Section 3 - Installation MC036 - Low Level Detection Alarm/AutoRefill Systems
The probe assembly for non-pressurized tanks contains three probes (Figure
3-5):
• Warning level probe Warning level probe Warning level probe Warning level probe Warning level probe—The warning level probe is the shortest
probe. The warning level probe should be installed 1 inch
above the low level and common probes.
• Low level and common (ground) probes Low level and common (ground) probes
Low level and common (ground) probes Low level and common (ground) probes Low level and common (ground) probes—The low level and
common probes, which are the same length, are the longest
probes. The low level and common probes should be
installed approximately
1 inch above the suction tube on the pump.
Probes can be shortened to suit any
drum.
To install the low level detection probe assembly on a 55-gallon drum, follow
these steps:
1. Determine the glue level at which the alarm will be activated.
2. Install the probe assembly into the inspection port of the drum
(Figure 3-6).
For systems incorporating a glue-
supply pump, ensure that the activation
depth of the low level alarm is not
below the pump inlet level. If it is, the
pump will run out of glue before the
alarm is given.
