6. Remove the debris material from the cut with an electric-driven breaker.
Use an air blower and possibly industrial suction fan to remove the small particles. Any
residue reduces the bonding strength of the filling material to the walls of the slot. If
there is water in the slot, dry it out with a blowtorch.
At any phase of the installation, do not direct the blowtorch onto the
sensor surface. The optical fiber ends may suffer damage.
CAUTION!
4.4.4 Installing DTS12G
Before installing the sensor, write down the sensor serial number, the length of the sensor
cable, the subsurface type, the installation depth, and the installation place. This is needed
for the metadata in the Web UI.
When performing installation and maintenance procedures at the
roadside, follow local and state legislation and regulations for road safety.
WARNING!
Vaisala strongly recommends that only certified technicians install
embedded sensors.
CAUTION!
Install DTS12G in the same slot with DRS511, exactly 300 mm (11.81 in) below the road
surface.
1. Before installing the sensor, use a multimeter to check that both the sensor and the
cable function properly.
