Accuracy Verification
After the initial calibration of the people counter, V-Count conducts accuracy tests to justify
success of the counting process. V-Count team records counting videos to adjust the
calibration accordingly and this process may take up to 2 weeks depending on the location. It
is recommended that user can also record videos from their CCTV systems if available to
double check the system.
To guarantee a statistical certainty, which makes the counting results comparable, the
collected database must include a minimum volume of 200 events of entering by visitors. Tests
done with samples smaller than 200 events are scientifically and statistically immature, thus
discarded.
Equation 1 Error rate formula
PA= Sum of people entering detected by the V-Count People Counter (All Entries)
PM=Sum people entering detected by the Manual Counting from videos (All entries)
For example, if V-Count reporting page shows 356 for a defined time interval and the manual
counting from the raw video is 349 the error rate would be 2% where the accuracy of the
system will be 98%.
