Part II – Wiring the System5
Page 8
Step 8: Testing Relays or Priming Pump
Locate the push buttons marked S1, S2, S3, and
S4 near the rear wall of the controller on the
Input board as shown in the drawing below.
These buttons correspond to the four relays so
you may test the feeders, sensor wash, and alarm
by pressing the buttons. This will allow you to
check your wiring as well as the devices
themselves. You may also use these buttons to
prime a pump if needed.
Step 9: Connecting the Water Ground
Locate the Input board as shown in the diagram.
The Water Ground is connected to the Terminal
marked TB1-1. The Water Ground forms a
connection between TB1-1 and the stainless steel
screw provided in the Flowcell.
Step 10: Connecting the Temperature Sensor
Wire the Temperature Sensor to the Input board
by connecting the red wire to TB1-3 and the
black wire to TB1-4.
Step 11: Connecting a Flow Switch
“Warning” Failure to incorporate a
flow switch and flowcell into the
sample stream of your USFilter
chemical controller can result in
injury or harm to swimmers in or
around the pool if the recirculation
pump should fail or shut down.
Locate the Input board as in the diagram.
Connect the Flow Switch as follows: Connect the
white wire to TB1-5, connect the red wire to
TB1-6, and connect the black wire to TB1-7.
NOTE: If using pre-amp, see Step 14a:
Connecting a Flow Switch to a Pre-Amp.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL TO WIRE THE
FLOW SWITCH CORRECTLY, AS
MISWIRING COULD RESULT IN ITS
DESTRUCTION.
One of the advantages of the USFilter Stranco
Products System5 (and all Strantrol Controllers)
is that the unit can be used with a flow switch to
control the feeder and still not lose power to the
sensor. Most controllers work by cutting all
power which then means the sensor goes through
an erratic period (up to two minutes) every time
power is restored. With Strantrol units the sensor
continues to function even when the flow switch
cuts power to the feeder so there is never a loss in
accuracy.
