access GPS data. When using more than one GPSaware application, the
same GPS program port must be used in each application. Ensure that the
COM port on the GPS-aware application(s) is set to the same GPS program
port as shown in the Programs tab of the GPS applet. The program port
must be a different port than the hardware port. By default, this is COM3.
NOTE:
Some GPS-aware applications may not communicate over GPS ports.
SatViewer
(Optional on certain device offerings; may not be installed.)
If your unit has the built-in GPS, it may have SatViewer™ installed. External
GPS receivers, Bluetooth GPS receivers or other external GPS devices
(including other SiRF II or SiRF III GPS receivers) are not supported and may
not work correctly with SatViewer. See Appendix A for more instructions on
using SatViewer.
Exiting GPS applications
Any time you exit a GPS application (such as SatViewer) it is advisable to
close the port gracefully, e.g. tap Disconnect from GPS and exit the application.
Failure to do so may leave the port open and hinder the next GPS operation.
Working with WWAN (the Phone)
Depending upon the configuration of your unit, it may have the additional
3G wireless wide area network (WWAN) feature. After purchasing a data
connection plan from your local GSM cellular provider, you can communicate
from field to office, send e-mail messages and send text messages.
NOTE:
When browsing the internet using the cellular connection, you must
turn off the Wi-Fi (802.11) or the unit will default to the Wi- Fi to browse.
CAUTION:
• DO NOT use your unit while driving a moving vehicle.
• DO NOT remove the WWAN antenna unless directed by supportpersonnel.
• When you are on a plane, in a medical facility or at a gas station where
