BEFORE THE FIRST USE
1. Before using for the first time, check if the voltage rating on the Base Plate (2) corresponds to the
mains voltage in your home (230 V, 50 Hz).
2. Remove stickers or any protective items from the Soleplate (1) and Housing (5) of the iron.
3. It is necessary to remove completely all the residues of the polishing used on the Soleplate (1) of
your iron which may have become trapped in the steam vents. To do this, fill water (using the
supplied Measuring Cup (16)) up to the "MAX" line into the iron. Clean steam vents by using Self-
Clean Button (15) (see Self-Cleaning section). When finished, wipe the Soleplate (1) with an old
cloth. Your iron should be ready now for use.
4. Some parts of the iron have been slightly greased and as a result the iron may smoke slightly when
switched on for the first time. In a while, however, this will cease.
5. Normal tap water can usually be used for ironing. But if you live in a hard water area, to insure
optimum performance of your iron, we recommend using distilled water.
APPLIANCE USE
Selecting the temperature
1. Check the ironing instruction on the garment which needs to be ironed.
2. If the garment does not have any ironing instructions, but you know the kind of fabric, set the
temperature necessary and iron.
3. Fabrics that have some kind of finish (polishing, wrinkles, contrasts…) should be ironed at the
lowest temperature.
4. If the fabric contains several kinds of fibers, always select the temperature applicable, if an article
contains 60% polyester and 40% cotton, you must always choose the temperature corresponding
to polyester and no steam.
5. First classify the articles to be ironed according to the most suitable ironing, the articles requiring
the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibers. Progress towards those require the
highest temperatures.
6. Turn the Temperature Control Button (14) to the following position:
•
for nylon and acetate
•
for wool, silk or mixtures
•
for cotton or linen (steam).
How to fill the Water Tank (3)
1. Unplug the iron.
2. Set the Steam Control Button (8) to dry ironing.
