3.16 - TROUBLESHOOTING
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR ADJUSTMENT
The ALLBIOMIX boiler has a smoke extraction fan and unit for
the control and distribution of primary and secondary air for
combustion.
The distribution unit consists of a disk with a fixed opening,
activated by an electromagnet.
The air that passes through the open section of the disk comes
from two separate circuits:
- the primary air circuit
- the secondary air circuit
The amount of secondary air used for combustion is, in turn,
controlled by an adjustable louvre.
The amount of secondary air is regulated exclusively according
to the moisture content of the wood used for combustion, which
should be between 12 and 20%.
The louvre is normally set at 25%.
Faults
The boiler tends to turn itself off
when there is still unused coal in the
storage section.
The boiler produces a lot of liquid tar
in the wood storage section or con-
densate in the exchanger pipes.
The boiler does not come up to tem-
perature.
The fan does not stop and keeps
running at maximum speed.
Probable causes
The grate is clogged
a) Very damp fuel
b) Long pauses with the wood storage
section full of fuel
a) Fuel not loaded correctly
b) Excessive demand of the system or
the flue gas exchanger system is
dirty
The door of the boiler is not fully closed.
Solutions
Unclog the holes of the grate and also clean
the area beneath.
a) Load drier wood.
b) Use only the amount of wood effectively
required.
a) Clean the entire boiler.
b) Load the wood in such a way as to cor-
rectly fill the wood storage section, with-
out leaving spaces.
Check that the door is closed properly.
3.17 - ALARMS AND CONTROLS
The software of the control unit constantly monitors the status
of the boiler, and displays in the third line on the third page any
of the following eight alarm messages:
1.
Boiler door open
The door of the boiler is open or not closed properly.
2.
No fuel in container
The fuel container is either empty or clogged, preventing the
sensor from detecting fuel in the container.
3.
Clogging of fuel in burner
The fuel in the burner is clogged due to pieces of fuel which
are not completely burnt or have not burned properly be-
cause they were not put in the burner in the correct manner.
4.
Not used
5.
Storage tank outside the maximum temperature limit
(e.g. due to solar energy or overheating)
The storage tank is outside the maximum temperature limit.
6.
Maximum temperature alarm of the solar panels
The solar panels have reached the maximum permitted
temperature, causing the solar pump to be disabled.
7.
Burner not ignited
The burner has failed to ignite after two automatic attempts
and is now disabled.
8.
Instability of boiler flow Probe 4
Boiler combustion is disabled if the flow sensor (S4) detects
values outside the tolerance ranges or is disconnected.
ATTENTION
Alarms 7 and 8 disable the system and, therefore, have to
be reset manually (key nr. 11 - refer to page 34).
