11 Make the tilt tube rod (7) come out of the bull
horn (8).
12 Insert the washers (12) on the two ends of the
tilt tube rod (7), grease the locknut thread (13) with
some anti-seize grease type MOLYKOTE
®
1000 or a
similar one. Then screw them by using a 3/4" wrench
and tighten them with a torque of 70[Nm] (52[lb
∙
ft]).
WARNING
If while tilting the engine is blocked, reduce the overall
dimensions of the spacers.
13 Make sure the engine can tilt.
CAUTION
If the locknuts (13) are disassembled, replace them.

14 Unscrew the adjustment collar (6) and bring
it into contact with the stainless washer, until the
clearance is eliminated,
15 Check the correct cylinder installation by moving
manually the engine on the right and on the left.
16 Tighten the set screw (5) on the adjustment collar
(6) by using an 1/8" wrench with a torque of 3[Nm] (2
[lb
∙
ft]).
17 Check again the correct engine movement both
during the right/left rotation and during the tilting.
WARNING
The engine must stop
through the cylinder
end stroke without
coming into contact
with the mechanical
stop (14) on the engine.
NOTICE
Otherwise it is necessary to modify the installation, by
changing the thickness of the spacers and by repeat-
ing the procedure from point 9.
WARNING
In this phase clearance should be enough to avoid
frictions but it should not be excessive since it could
cause engine instability. In case of contact with the
transom, stop the installation and contact the spe-
cialized staff.
NOTICE
Do not use any tool for this operation.
NOTICE
The rotation must be as symmetric as possible be-
tween port and starboard so that the steering angle
is the same on both sides.
NOTICE
Check periodically the clearance absence between
the ring nut and the tilt tube otherwise eliminate the
clearance through the adjustment collar (6).
