Port Mirroring
This menu section controls the port mirroring configuration of the switch and is selected from
the Switch Configuration menu screen. This menu section controls the routing of packets from a
selected port to a target port for test purposes such as the connection of a Sniffer device to
observe traffic on selected port(s). This function is selected from the Switch Configuration menu
screen.

The default mode is disabled and to activate port mirroring, select the menu and then use the
<
Edit
> key to move to the Port Mirroring State field. Use the <
Space
> key to toggle the state to
Enabled. A new menu area is displayed with the following key fields:-

Analysis Port
is the port that is connected to the Sniffer device. Traffic from the ports to
be monitored are output on this port.
•
Mirrored Ports
are the ports that are to be have their traffic routed to the Analysis port.
Note that you can select to have just the TX or just the RX or both direction of traffic on
the Mirrored port sent to the Analysis port. Note that due consideration of the available
bandwidth transmitted ob the Analysis port needs to be taken as packet loss will occur
if too much mirrored traffic is routed to the Analysis port.
