NOTE: Do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, fit links over both the Microwave
and PIR test jumpers at the same time.
Masking
It may be impossible to avoid problem areas within the PIR surveillance
pattern, e.g., hot surfaces or radiators. If false alarms are established during
walk testing and the cause cannot be removed from the protected area,
locate the cause and establish the lens segment covering the particular area.
Mask the lens segment from the inside of the lens using only the masking
material supplied.
Setting The Detector Operational Mode
When the surveillance pattern for both PIR and microwave sensors have
been adjusted and tested, it is necessary to set the operational mode of the
detector according to the individual site security requirement.
1.
Remove the detector cover and lens carrier assembly.
2.
Position the links according to requirements as follows:
trbl link fitted
Red Alarm LED will flash in the event of a failure of
the microwave sensor. Trouble output operates.
trbl link not fitted
No LED indication of microwave sensor failure.
Trouble output still operates
Test link fitted
This link should only be fitted during testing of the
detector.
Test link not fitted
Normal operational mode.
Neither PIR
nor MW link fitted
Normal operating mode requiring both the micro-
wave and PIR sensors to detect movement before
the alarm relay is activated.
Both PIR and MW
link fitted
In this mode of operation, the relay will be activated
if either the PIR or microwave sensor detects
movement. In this mode of operation, the detector
is highly sensitive and should be used in extremely
secure environments, e.g., bank vaults.
3.
Refit the lens carrier assembly and the detector cover.
