6. Maintenance

Maintenance activities can be easily undertaken.

Make  sure  you  perform  regular  cleaning  and  lubrication  of  the  bearings.
During  working  process,  the  glue  tray  must  remain  fully  filled  at  all  times.
Adhesives must have low viscosity and be properly diluted to ensure a good film
control  which  will  determine  a  better  coating.  Perform  regular  cleaning  of  the
stripper finger blades not to damage sheet edges.

The  stripper  fingers  are  shaped  to  be  used  in  all  four  sides,  just  loosen  the
screws and rotate them.

It’s important to adjust all stripper fingers at the same

height to avoid damages or unwanted marks to the sheets. For short downtime
and  breaks,  such  as  lunchtime,  it

’s  recommended  to  keep  coating  rollers

running to avoid sticking and to prevent the accumulation of a glue shell on the
adhesive surface.

Longer downtime and breaks require complete cleaning procedures.

6.1

– Cleaning procedures

After  working  process  is  complete,  a  full  cleaning  procedure  is  required  as
described below.

While  motor  is  in  operation  at  low  speed,  dislodge  the  trays  from  the  lateral
structure  moving  them  forward  until  the  coating  scraper  (12a)  is  no  more
submerged  in  adhesive.  The  exceeding  glue  in  the  coating  rollers  drops  down
into the glue tray. The bottom tray is removed from the machine. Once outside
the  machine,  the  top  glue  tray  is  removed  (using  animal  glue).  Next,  replace
only  the  water  tray  back  in  the  machine.  At  this  point,  fill  in  the  water  tray  till
coating  roller  (12a)  is  submerged  again,  but  in  water  this  time.  Here  you  will
notice  the  coating  rollers  are  starting  the  auto  cleaning  processes  and  all  you
need to do is drying them with a damp cloth.

DANGER

Always make sure you stop the motor before performing the action

above.

The stripper fingers can be disassembled for cleaning purposes.

NOTE

Proper  and  acceptable  cleaning  of  the  coating  rollers  and  stripper

fingers assure a longer working life of the equipment.
