The weight of a coulter against the ground can be adjusted to 2-12 kp. The sowing depth depends
on coulter type, bed preparation and soil quality. The correct sowing depth for cereals in approx. 4
cm and for small seeds 2-3 cm. In practice it must always be checked that the sowing depth is
correct and ensured that the seed is placed in moist soil. The easiest way to adjust the sowing depth
is to use the central regulating screw situated vertically in front of the machine. Fig. 25. When
turning the crank clockwise the pressure increases.
The sowing depth can also be regulated individually. This is done in the front part of the machine
by moving the chain attached to the coulter spring, fig. 26. At the tractor’s wheel tracks e.g. the
chains are tightened for 1-2 links. Counting from the middle of the machine the fifth, the sixth and
the seventh coulters on both sides of the centre line are set one chain link together already at the
factory. The spring loading of TUME –drills has been designed so that the height of the coulters
doesn’t much affect the pressure of the coulter.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
-
Do not lower the machine on the ground when it is not moving. Never reverse with the
coulter in the ground.
-
On even ground the machine should be working in a horizontal position. The easiest way to
check this is to control that the lid of the machine is in horizontal position.
-
If the machine is working inclined forward the upper link of the tractor should be
lengthened. If the machine is working inclined backward the upper link should be shortened.
Check also that, when controlling the working position, the machine does not rest on the
lower links.
-
Check the sowing depth after having driven a short distance.
-
Check the adjustment of the markers by controlling the seam line of the sowing, too.
-
Lift and lower the drill only when it is moving. Never reverse with the coulters on the
ground.
-
Check from time to time the condition of all seed tubes. Remove possible clogs.
-
Check from time to time that the coulters are not clogged.
-
In the beginning of sowing control the are that can be sown with one full hopper. After that
you can determine the correct filling time according to the area meter.
-
Keep enough seed in the hopper. Due to the form of the hopper bottom it is very important
to observe this, especially in the beginning.
