Intended Use

Pendulum action jigsaw for medium duty precise straight and shaped cutting of wood, plastic
and thin sheet metal (when using appropriate blades). Also connects to the Triton track system
for cutting short length internal/pocket cuts and cut-outs with straight edges.

Unpacking Your Tool

•  Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and

functions

•  Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing

or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool

Before Use

WARNING

: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or

changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.

Blade guide

•  The Blade Guide (7) is spring loaded. Depending on the position of the Mode Selector (6),

the Blade Guide remains stationary (non-pendulum) or oscillates backwards and forwards,
causing the blade to cut with a pendulum action

Pendulum adjustment

Pendulum modes enable more efficient cutting of materials by creating a slightly curved
oscillating cut. This enables superior cutting in thicker workpieces and puts the motor and
blade under less stress in use by allowing a small amount of clearance between the blade and
workpiece in stages of the cut.
The Mode Selector (6) has 4 positions:
•  Position ‘0’ selects normal cutting without pendulum action
•  Positions 1, 2 and 3 engage pendulum action. This causes the blade to swing slightly

backwards and forwards as it cuts, increasing cutting efficiency

•  Position 1 provides minimum pendulum action ; position 3 provides maximum pendulum

action

•  Experiment on a piece of scrap material to determine the optimum pendulum action setting

for the workpiece

IMPORTANT

: Do not adjust the pendulum mode while the jigsaw is in use.

Adjusting the base for bevel cutting

The Base (4) has 3 notched angle positions (15°, 30° & 45°) both left and right (Image E):
1.  Turn the jigsaw upside down and release the Base Angle Lock (16) by pulling out the lever

(Image D)

2.  Adjust the Base to the required position (Image F)
3.  Retighten the Base Angle Lock

Note

: For accurate work, make a trial cut in scrap material; check the cut and adjust as

necessary until the correct setting is achieved.

Note

: If you wish to set an angle for the Base outside the notched positions, it relies purely on

friction/tension and there is a risk the Base may move in operation. Careful adjustment of the
Base securing bolt (Image I) may be required.

Dust port adaptor

It is recommended that this tool is used with a dust extraction system for a cleaner and safer
work environment. This is especially important where the toxicity of the workpiece is not
known, i.e. older surface coatings including paint or unknown wood treatment solutions.
•  The Dust Port Adaptor (Image N) clips into the rear of the base and allows a dust extraction

system or a household vacuum cleaner to be connected to the tool in order to remove dust
whilst the tool is in use

WARNING

: Hot metal swarf generated by cutting metal sheets may ignite residual wood

dust previously collected in the dust extraction system bag or canister.  In such circumstances,
dust extraction is not recommended for metal cutting unless any risk is eliminated.

Changing a blade

1.  Turn the tool upside down so you can access the jigsaw blade (Image D)
2.  Pull out the Guard Blade Release (11) and remove and replace the blade (Image C)
3.  Gently allow the Guard Blade Release to move back to its normal position
4.  Check the blade is correctly fitted and lines up with the Blade Guide (7)

Note

:  If the blade is difficult to release, very lightly tap the end of the blade with a wooden

mallet or similar. This will free the blade which can then be released.

Fitting a Base Cover

The jigsaw is supplied with a general purpose Base Cover (5) which prevents scratches and
damage to most surfaces.  Contact your Triton dealer for additional Base Covers for other
surfaces.
•  To remove a Base Cover, clip off at the back of the Base (4) and then remove from the front

of the Base (Image J)

•  To fit a Base Cover, clip over the front of the Base and then click fit over the rear of the Base

Fitting the Track Adaptor

The Track Adaptor provides an easy and accurate parallel guide using the Triton track system
for cutting short length internal/pocket cuts and cut-outs with straight edges.
1.  The Track Adaptor clips over the bare Base (4) without a Base Cover (5) fitted
2.  Fit the front of the bare Base to the Track Adaptor then clip in the rear of the Base.
3.  The Track Adaptor fits over Triton Track as shown (Image P) to provide an accurate and easy

straight cut

Fitting the Parallel Guide

The Parallel Guide relies on the edge of the workpiece or other parallel edge to provide a
straight parallel cut on the workpiece.
1.  Fit the 2 Parallel Guide Knobs to the Parallel Guide Locking Knob Threads (9) but do not

tighten

2.  Insert the Parallel Guide into the Parallel Guide Slot (8) on the required side for your cut

making sure the Parallel Guide edge plate is facing downwards (Image O)

3.  Adjust to the required length using the graduations on the guide or other measuring device
4.  Tighten the Parallel Guide Knobs to secure the Parallel Guide ready for use

Operation

WARNING

: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as

well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.

Adjusting the cutting speed

The speed of the tool can be preset before use as well as adjusted during use, using the
Variable Speed Dial (14) at the rear of the tool. Pre-setting the speed allows the operator to
concentrate on controlling the tool safely using the two large handles, Auxiliary Handle (1) and
Main Handle (2). Blade speed may be adjusted to suit the material being cut. This enhances
cutting performance and saves the blade from undue wear:
•  Use the Variable Speed Dial (14) to set the speed of the blade
