Setting Pull-In Gain
Press the
H MODE
switch again to position the cursor adjacent to the
PI
(Pull-In) value.
The
PULL-IN
gain may be adjusted if you feel the aircraft is not responding appropriately when you
request large course changes.
As an example, assume that you are in the course mode and you use the encoder switch to program a
90 degree course change. Initially, the aircraft will establish a constant turn rate which will decrease as it
approaches the correct course. If you feel that the “pull in” after the turn shallows is too slow, you might
wish to increase the
PI
gain. If it is overshooting the new course, you may wish to lower the
PI
gain.
1. Enter
the
MAINTENANCE MENU
as detailed
previously and select the
SET HNAV GAINS
menu.
2. Use
the
H
or
V MODE
button to select the
PI
parameter.
3. Increase this number one count.
4. Exit the calibration screens (press and hold encoder knob until the normal navigation screen
returns.
Setting the Overall Horizontal Servo Gain
The
H NAV
system gain setting optimizes the
overall
Pro Pilot altitude control system horizontal tracking
performance. This adjustment allows the Pro Pilot to be tailored to your individual airplane. The factory
setting is a nominal value which should give good performance in most airplanes.
The
HNAV
servo gain is used to increase or decrease the overall response of the
HNAV
servo and its
control of
CRS
,
TRK
and
PI
. In some installations the lever arms cannot be mechanically adjusted to
accommodate the required range of travel or linking to the control system. In some airplanes the control
systems are so sensitive that the factory preset servo gain is a little high for that particular installation,
The
HNAV
servo gain adjustment procedure is made available to accommodate these variations.
NOTE:
After a change in the
H NAV
servo gain, the
CRS
,
TRK
and
PI
adjustments may need to be
readjusted. Please contact Trio Avionics if you think you may need to change this adjustment
from factory settings.
To enter the
SET H SERVO GAIN
selection, perform the following steps:
1. Enter
the
MAINTENANCE MENU
as detailed previously and select the
SET H SERVO GAINS
menu.
2. Press and release the
H MODE
button. The arrow will be placed at the
HNAV
servo gain value.
To adjust this value, rotate the encoder to increase or decrease the displayed value, otherwise
continue with step 3.
3. Press and release the
H MODE
button.
The
SET H SERVO GAIN
procedure is complete and the encoder can now be used to select another
menu screen.
