SNMP
Global Settings
System > SNMP > Global Settings
You can manage a switch by viewing and configuring the management information base
(MIB) objects on the device with the Simple Network Management Program (SNMP).
This chapter describes how to configure SNMP. A Group Name, IP address of the switch
and at least one community string is the minimum required to manage the switch using
SNMP.
Note: If you disable the SNMP on the switch, the switch will not be manageable via
SNMP using MIBs.
1. Log into your switch management page (see “
Access your switch management page
”
on page 7).
2. Click on System, click on SNMP, and click on Global Settings.
3. Review the settings. Click Apply to save changes.
SNMP Global Settings: Click the drop-down list to one of the following options.
o
Enabled - When you enable this parameter, SNMP is active. You can
manage the switch with SNMP network management software and
the switch’s private MIB.
o
Disabled - When you select this parameter, SNMP is inactive.
Trap Settings: Enable this setting to enable output to a SNMP Trap Host for the
following toggle-able conditions:
o
SNMP Authentication Trap – When a client connects to the switch
with SNMP
o
Port Link Up – When any port on the switch goes from an inactive
state to active.
o
Port Link Down – When any active port on the switch becomes
inactive.
o
ColdStart – When the switch is powered on by connecting to a power
source.
o
WarmStart – When the switch is reboot from a management
interface.
4. Click Apply.
NOTE: The configured settings are only applied to the switch’s temporary memory and
will be lost upon the next power-cycle. Please follow these next steps to save the
configurations to the switch’s NV-RAM to ensure the settings will remain throughout
power-cycles and reboots:
