Appendix: Telnet Interface Administration
This appendix describes the use the
telnet
interface for
controlling and configuring TE100-PS3 network print server.
Setting an IP Address without EtherPort Admin
The
EtherPort Admin
program allows you to set your print
server’s IP address (and other TCP/IP parameters). If you don’t
have a Windows-based workstation and you need to set your print
server’s address, you can use a BOOTP (Boot Protocol) server, or
the manual method described below.
If you want to use BOOTP, your local Ethernet network needs to
have a BOOTP server. The BOOTP server table needs to have an
entry listing the print server’s Ethernet (MAC) address, the IP
address you want to assign to the print server, the network’s mask,
and the default gateway (router) address. Consult your BOOTP
server documentation for information about how to add an entry to
the server table.
If you aren’t using BOOTP, you can manually set the IP address
using the following method:
1.
Note your print server’s Ethernet (MAC) address. The
Ethernet address is a 12-digit hex number printed on a
sticker on the bottom of your print server.
2.
Use a host on the same local Ethernet network as the print
server. Change your host’s ARP (address resolution
