Dynamic IP Address
Selecting Dynamic IP address means DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
will be used to automatically assign an IP address to GateLock. You do not have to
manually assign a permanent IP address to your GateLock device. Simply click the
Start button at the bottom of the screen to advance to the ISP Requirements page.
Note: Select Dynamic IP Address if your ISP assigns you an IP address automatically using
DHCP. If this is the case, you do not have to do anything. The Internet light on
GateLock’s front will be illuminated, and you should immediately be able to connect
to the Internet. You can confirm this by connecting to http://www.antivirus.com with
your Web browser.
ISP Requirements
Depending on your ISP, you may have to specify your Media Access Control (MAC)
address and a host name to successfully connect to the Internet. If you are not
required by your ISP to provide this information, DO NOT specify any MAC address
or host name.
MAC Address
A MAC address is the unique hardware number of your PC's network card; every
network card is assigned a unique MAC address when it is manufactured.
By default, GateLock uses the MAC address of the PC you used to open the
configuration console and this information is already in the MAC address field of
Quick Setup’s ISP Requirements page.
If your ISP requires you to provide a MAC address to be able to connect to the
Internet, simply select the Enable MAC address specification check box to use the
MAC address that GateLock has saved.
Host Name
If your ISP requires you to supply a host name for your PC when you connect to the
Internet, enter this information in Quick Setup’s ISP Requirements page.
Your host name information is supplied by your ISP and is normally included in your
ISP account information sheet. Contact your ISP if you cannot find your host name
information.
