11.2 Contraindications
For reasons of caution, pregnant women should avoid treatment. However, no negative effects have been
reported.
12. Light guide
The light guide is used among others for treatment inside the oral cavity. The Light guide is CE-certified as a
medical product in Class 1.
Mounting of the Light guide
Active Internal consists of:
• Holder (H)
• Light guide with protection cover (L)
• Repair kit with sealing rings
Active Internal is mounted as follows:
• Press the holder firmly onto the top of the laser devise´s probe. (P)
• Push the light guide into the holder (L->H)
• Remove the protection cover
The holder is fastened with the help of a heat resistant silicon sealing
ring on top of the laser devise.
The Light guide is fastened into the holder by heat resistant silicon
sealing rings.
Cleaning of the light guide before use
The light guide shall be cleaned every time before it is to be used.
Mount the light pole. Remove the cover.
Disinfect as below.
Manual cleaning / disinfection after use
The light guide is best cleaned and disinfected by the use of antiseptics or rubbing alcohol:
• Clean the light guide with a soft cloth moistened with antiseptics or rubbing alcohol
(For instance Kemetyl M-YTDES alternatively 70% Methylated alcohol )
• Dry off the light guide with a clean cloth
• Check the light guide ( See Control)
• Mount the light guide cover.
The holder and the external parts of the laser devise may be cleaned in the same way Be careful not to get
detergent into the devise and to cause damp damage.
Never use detergent with grinding agents on the fiber optics.
Mechanical cleaning
The light guide may be cleaned in an autoclave/dishwasher. The light guide and its sealing rings should not be
exposed to heat above 132

Control
Before the light guide is used it should be checked for damaged surfaces. Damaged light guides are to be
replaced immediately.
