Flash
The flash firing mode can be set to suit the photographic conditions.
1. Slide the mode switch to [

2. Toggle the
button to select the desired flash mode.

Description
[ Blank] Automatic Flash
The flash fires automatically to suit the photographic conditions.
This mode is available when the camera is set to the [
], [
P
], [
], [ ] and
[ ]
mode.
At the [
SCN
] mode, this flash mode is also available at [Black & White],
[Sepia], [Splash Water] and [Pets].
[
] Red-eye Reduction
Use this mode to reduce the red-eye phenomenon when you want to
capture natural- looking images of people and animals in low-light conditions.
When the camera mode is [
], [
P
] and [
M
], the flash will fire to suit the
brightness of the subject.
When the camera mode is [
Tv
] and [
Av
], the flash will always fire.
[
] Pre-Flash
The “Pre-flash” mode allows you to brighten the subject prior to taking the
final picture and firing the flash.
[ ] Forced Flash
In this mode, the flash always fires. Use this mode for photographing under
artificial light such as backlighting, fluorescent lighting, etc.

] Flash Off
Use this mode when capturing images using indoor lighting, for stages and
indoor competitions, and when the subject is too far away for the flash to be
effective.
