The Media Converter features four DIP switches on the front panel used to configure the
Media Converter for use in a particular network setting. Figure 18 shows the DIP switches
and a chart that explains each setting.

DIP switch changes will not become active until the Media Converter is power cycled
(turned OFF then ON)

Note:
The Converter / Switch Mode setting (DIP switch #4) greatly effects the operation of
the Media Converter. Refer to the appropriate setting below:
Converter Mode (ON):

No latency (no store-and-forward of packets – forwards data bits
immediately after receiving)

Copper port supports 100Base-TX only (no auto-negotiation)
Switch Mode (OFF):
-
Minimum latency (store-and-forward of packets – forwards data
packet after receiving entire packet)

Copper port supports 10/100Base-TX and full auto-negotiation
