Parity even
The parity bit serves as control bit for error detection during data transmission.
The parity represents the checksum of the bits in the data word. If the data word
contains an odd number of ones, the parity is even = "1" and adds the checksum to
even parity. The parity bit always follows the last data bit of the position output. It is
calculated from all previous bits. Therefore, only a single parity bit is possible.
Parity odd
The parity bit serves as control bit for error detection during data transmission.
The parity represents the checksum of the bits in the data word. If the data word
contains an even number of ones, the parity is odd = "1" and adds the checksum to
odd parity. The parity special bit always follows the last data bit of the position output.
It is calculated from all previous bits. Therefore, only a single parity bit is possible.
