A warm or hot engine may

choking. After engine starts, move choke control to

5. Move the throttle control to the Fast position
before starting a cold engine (Figure 13).

6. Turn the ignition key to Start (Figure 14). When the
engines starts, release the key.
Important:
Do not engage starter for more
than 10 seconds at a time. If engine fails to
start allow 30 second cool-down period between
attempts. Failure to follow these instructions
can burn out starter motor.

7. After the engine starts, move the choke to off
(Figure 12). If the engine stalls or hesitates, move
the choke back to on for a few seconds, then move
the throttle lever to desired setting. Repeat this as
required.
Stopping the Engine
1. Push the PTO to the off position (Figure 11).
2. Move the throttle lever midway between the slow
and fast positions (Figure 13).
3. Let the engine idle for 60 seconds.
