Preparing for Cleaning
Planning
The area to be cleaned should be reviewed to determine the most efficient cleaning plan to minimize turns
and utilize power outlets advantageously.
If you have a rectangular room:
• Establish a path down the length of the room, overlapping each pass by a minimum of 2 inches.
If you have an irregularly shaped room:
• Establish a path down the length of the room at the longest point, overlapping each pass by a minimum of
2 inches.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming is very important to the maintenance of carpet. Vacuuming removes the dry soil; loose dust,
dirt and soil before it is worked down into the carpet. Built up soil is much more difficult to clean out of the
carpet.
Pre-Spraying
Doorways and other heavy traffic areas will require additional maintenance and care. Pre-spraying these
areas prior to cleaning will allow the chemicals additional time to work.
Spotting
The difference between a spot and a stain is how long it sits on the floor. Pre-vacuuming provides an
excellent opportunity to locate and pre-treat spots
