• Only work on a flat, non-flammable surface. Protect other nearby materials from damage
through heat.
• Fix the paper or cardboard by appropriate fixtures. This leaves both your hands free for the
working process.
• Cautionn! Risk of burns! The tip gets very hot. Do not touch it. When working, only hold the hot
embossing stylus at its handle.
• Do not leave the product out of sight when it is hot. This also applies for the duration of the
heating and cooling process.
• Allow the hot embossing stylus to cool down after use on a heat-resistant surface.
• Always rest or put the hot embossing stylus on the non-flammable surface when you are not
using it (e.g. during a work break or during cooling). When doing so, make sure that the hot
embossing stylus is placed securely and cannot topple or roll away. Make sure that the tip
does not touch any other objects.
• Keep your workstation clean. Untidiness at the workplace increases the risk of accidents.
• Only work with sufficient lighting at your workstation.
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room into a warm one.
The condensation that forms can ruin the product under certain circumstances.
Leave the product switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature before you use
it. This may take several hours.
• Prevent the following adverse conditions at the place of use and during transport:
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Heavy vibrations, impacts, or blows
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even
from a low height.
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must be turned off
and precautions must be taken to ensure that it is not used unintentionally. After this, arrange
for an expert to check the product.
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device no longer operates properly, and
- the device has been stored under adverse conditions for a long time
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer’s Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions, please con-
tact our technical department or another specialist.
b) Batteries
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries laying around in the open; there is a risk they may be swallowed by
children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/–).
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable
protective gloves.
• Batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a danger of explo-
sion!
• Do not recharge conventional non-rechargeable batteries; risk of explosion!
• Never mix batteries of different charge states or different brands.
• Remove the batteries, if the device is not used over a longer period of time (e.g. storage). Old
batteries may leak and cause damage to the product, which will lead to the loss of the war-
ranty/guarantee!

Getting started and operation
Please consult the section: “Safety instructions”!
a) Inserting/replacing the batteries
• Press on both ribbed surfaces of the battery
compartment using the index finger and thumb
at the same time. At that, remove the cover of
the battery compartment of the hot stamping
stylus.
• Insert three Mignon (AA) batteries with correct
polarity. Please note the lettering on the device.
• Replace the lid of the battery compartment on the hot stamping stylus. Make sure, that the lid of the battery
compartment is firmly seated in the device. The battery compartment lid must engage on both sides.
Only use batteries of the specified type. Use alkaline batteries to achieve the longest operating
duration possible.
Cold temperatures have a negative influence on the service life of the batteries (reduced operat-
ing time).
The product has been approved for use with 3x 1.5 V Mignon batteries (type AA) only. Do not
use any other power supply.

Hot stamping stylus

Intended use
The hot stamping stylus is designed for inscribing or decorating paper or cardboard greeting cards, invitation
cards, letters, etc. using the enclosed hot foil.
Only conventional type Mignon (AA) batteries are permitted in operating the hot embossing stylus.
The hot embossing stylus is only suitable for home use. The product was not designed for commercial use.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating instructions!
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the risk of short
circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may be modified or converted!

a) Persons / product
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never take the product apart (except to change the tip and batteries,
as described in these operating instructions).
• The product is not a toy. It should be kept out of the reach of children. Therefore, be especially
careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product must not get damp or wet.
• Do not use the hot embossing stylus in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are, or may be, present! There is a danger of explosion!
• Do not fasten any items to the product; never cover the hot embossing stylus; there is a risk
of fire!
• Never use the hot embossing stylus to heat up liquids.
• Hot foil is not food-safe. Do not use it to decorate any objects that come in direct contact with
food.
