B. Procedure: Setup / Initialization of GCM2.
Required Equipment
-AC Load Bank that is rated to at least the same output as the GPU under test
-DC Load Bank, if the unit is TR-equipped
-TLD-ACE GCM2 generator control module
-General Purpose Magnet
-Calibrated Digital Multimeter, Fluke 87V or equivalent
-Calibrated Clamp-On Ammeter, Extech 380926 or equivalent
1. Verify that the GPU has the proper oil, coolant, and fuel levels.
2. Connect the battery by using the battery switch mounted to the right of the control box. The
GCM2 screen should turn on after a short delay, and the TLD logo will be displayed along with
the firmware version number. After five seconds, the start screen should be displayed.
3. Press the red button to enter maintenance mode. This allows access to the adjustments menu
without needing to run the engine.
4. Apply a magnet to left face of the GCM2 on the lower rear corner. Refer to figure 10 to see the
proper location. This action will close a magnetic switch contact inside the GCM2, and allow the
adjustments menu to be accessed if the rotary dial is pushed in and held for two seconds.
Please note that the window for pushing and holding down the rotary dial push button, after the
magnet is detected, is 60 seconds. If 60 seconds have elapsed since the magnet was held
against the GCM2, the process must be repeated to access the adjustments menu. Successful
entry into the adjustment menu is indicated by a red text bar appearing at the top of the screen.
Note: If the Text Bar at the top of the screen is shown in the color Purple instead of Red, and
shows the text “Language Adjust” that indicates that the magnetic switch was not detected. For
firmware versions V2.82 and later, the operator may change only the selected Language, by
press and hold the rotary knob, without using the magnet switch for access. If that happens
when the intention was to enter the Adjust Menu for setup, press and hold the knob again to exit
the Adjust Language mode, then apply the magnet, then press and hold the knob to enter the
Adjust Setup menu, which is indicated by the red color text bar across the top of the screen.
