When used as an audio bridge only, a maximum of 4 ISDN channels will be used (i.e. 64 kbps
per added telephone site).
All video sites must be connected at the same bandwidth but asymmetric video formats are
supported; i.e. Digital Clarity may be received while CIF/SIF is transmitted. The system will
automatically set up the calls for the best possible audio and video according to the first
MultiSite connected.
Automatic bandwidth adjustment
IP: When adding sites to a call, the system will use flow control to utilize the available
bandwidth for the call.
ISDN: When adding sites to a call, the system will automatically downspeed to the appropriate
number of channels according to the system’s available bandwidth.
The MultiSite is able to accept incoming calls as well as connecting other sites from the
TANDBERG 8000; or a mixture of incoming and outgoing calls. To dial into the MultiSite the
far sites A, B and C must dial in on TANDBERG 8000’s 1
st
, 2
nd
and 3
rd
ISDN line numbers
respectively.
The MultiSite supports Continuous Presence (CP), Voice Switched (VS) or manual mode of
operation.
In CP, the screen is divided into 3 or 4 squares and the same image is sent to all participants.
a)
If MultiSite terminal holds the floor, it will transmit itself in full screen to the other
terminals, but still see CP on its own screen.
b)
If one of the other terminals holds the floor, it will see CP. The MultiSite terminal will
see CP, but also active terminal in full screen (on the other monitor). All other terminals
will see full screen of active terminal.
