INSTALLATION
LOCATION WARNING
Mount garage fan inside the attic keeping in mind the electrical and activation sources. Locating the CB14 away from the
intake vents may lead to more complete garage coverage and better results.
Locating rows of drywall screws may help identify the location of joists along the ceiling. Make sure the location you choose
is a suitable considering:
1) Electrical, gas, water lines or structurally critical areas of your home that may be located in your attic
2) The combined height of the fan, intake plenum and open radiation damper in relation to the roof pitch
3) Electrical access for the fan motor
4) Air flow paths to gable, ridge or roof vents
1. Outline a 16”x16” square on your garage ceiling at the desired fan location
considering the above points.
2. Cut along outline with drywall knife to create hole opening (Figure A).
3. Intake plenum can be pushed up into the hole and secured from the garage (Figure B) or placed on ceiling from attic and
secured from above (Figure C). Center the intake plenum along opening in the drywall and rotate so that the sides
with the three mounting holes (used later) are perpendicular to the joists/trusses.
3a. If mounting the intake plenum from the garage:
-Secure 2 2” x 4” boards between the joists and along edges of the hole. These can typically be cut to 22.5” and
secured with screws or nails if joists are 24” on center.
-Insert intake plenum into hole from garage and secure it by driving screws through the 3 mounting holes on each
side of the intake plenum and then through the drywall and into the secured 2” x 4” boards.
