clically changing support points of
the person lying on the bed, minimiz-
ing pressure on the parts of the body
which are at the greatest risk of bed-
sores. This improves circulation of
the tissues of the body parts which
stay in touch with the bed surface for
the longest period. It should be noted
that the mattress operating principle
described above cannot eliminate all
causes of skin lesions; however, it can
signifi cantly limit their development.
THE MATTRESS SHOULD NOT BE USED IF IT IS NOT FULLY
INFLATED.
Contraindications for the use of al-
ternating pressure mattresses are
determined by a physician based on
a physical examination and medi-
cal history. In practice, the mattress
should not be used if alternating
changes of support points cause
pain to the patient and an exacerba-
tion of the patient’s condition.
Detailed information about the
equipment is provided in the in-
struction manual.
4. ASSEMBLY AND PRIMARY
INDICATIONS FOR USE
STEP 1
Place the mattress on the bed direct-
ly on top of the regular mattress. The
flaps at each end of the pressure relief
mattress should be tucked under the
regular mattress to limit movement of
one mattress relative to the other. Next,
cover the mattress with the cover in-
cluded in the set. It is recommended
that the mattress be secured with a hy-
gienic vapour-permeable mattress pad
or cotton sheet in order to prevent it
from being soiled.
STEP 2

STEP 3
The pump and the mattress should be
connected with air hoses so that they
are not kinked or trapped under the
mattress. Make sure that the hoses are
properly fastened and do not come out
from the ports.
