A.2 Rear Panel USER Connector
A.2.1 Pin Identification
This female 15-pin D-Type connector exposes a number of internal electrical signals.
For convenience, a number of logic inputs and outputs are included, thereby
eliminating the need for extra PC based IO hardware. Using the software, these user
programmable logic lines can be deployed in applications requiring control of external
devices such a relays, light sources and other auxilliary equipment.
The pin functions are detailed in in Fig. A.2 .

Warning
Do not, under any circumstances attempt to connect the digital I/O to any
external equipment that is not galvanically isolated from the mains or is
connected to a voltage higher than the limits specified in Section A.2.2. to
Section A.2.6.. In addition to the damage that may occur to the controller there
is a risk of serious injury and fire hazard.
Note
The "Trigger In" pin on the USER D-type connector is assigned the function of Open
Loop / Closed Loop switchover, effectively replicating the function of the Closed
Loop button on the front panel. This is useful in applications where the PPC001 is
incorporated in equipment and the front panel is not easily accessible. If required,
open loop / closed loop switchover can be accomplished by connecting an external
button (normally open, momentary closed switch) between this pin and ground. A 5
Volt logic signal can also be used.
