Replacing the optical drive

Before you start, print these instructions and read “Important safety information” on page vi.

You computer is shipped with an optical drive installed. If it needs to be repaired, remove it by doing
the following:

To replace the optical drive, do the following:

1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. Wait

several minutes to let the computer cool.

2. Remove the battery. See “Replacing the battery” on page 113.
