INTERVAL
INSPECTION CRITERIA
ACTION
Before
Use
Inspect equipment for damage, wear, or
missing components.
If damage is
apparent, replace
the equipment.
Inspect power cord for cuts or punctures.
Inspect headlight lens for scratches.
Inspect the battery pack housing for cracks.
Check fan motors for excessive noise.
NOTE:
If any component must be discarded, see the
Disposal/Recycle
section.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
CAUTION:
• ALWAYS store the equipment within the speci
fi
ed environ-mental condi-
tion values throughout its useful life. See the
Speci
fi
cations
section.
• ALWAYS store the battery pack between operations in the battery charger.
• To ensure the longevity, performance and safety of this equipment, use
of the original packaging material is recommended when storing or trans-
porting this equipment.
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNINGS:
• Perform recommended inspection and testing as indicated in the
Inspection and Testing section.
• ALWAYS operate the equipment within the speci
fi
ed environmental condi-
tion values. See the Speci
fi
cations section.
• ALWAYS wear the surgical helmet with a surgical toga or surgical hood to
obtain the required personal protection.
CAUTIONS:
• DO NOT throw, kick, bend or twist the helmet or its features. The lightweight
design is not designed to take excessive loads without damage.
• DO NOT suspend the helmet from a coat hook by using the frame of the
face shield as loop.
• Do not scratch the headlight lens.
• Do not cut, stretch or kink the power cable. Failure to comply will damage
the cable and may cause malfunction.
NOTE:
• Helmet position will vary from person to person depending on head size
and personal comfort preferences.
TO DON A SURGICAL HELMET
WARNINGS:
• DO NOT connect the power cable plug to the battery pack before donning
the helmet.
NOTE:
• ALWAYS perform the following steps in sequence.
1. Apply the comfort- or soft pads inside the helmet as required (
fi
g. 1).
NOTE:
• Comfort- or soft pads pads are designed with recessions along the skin-con-
tacting areas to promote cooling and moisture transfer. Apply the comfort- or
soft pads pads with recessions facing towards your skin.
2. Loosen the headband with the headband adjustment knob as required by
turning the knob counter clockwise (
fi
g. 2).
3. Adjust the helmet height using the height adjustment strap. Push the re-
lease button and pull/push the strap to extend/retract the length of the
strap for
fi
t and comfort (
fi
g. 3).
CAUTION:
• DO NOT pull to extend or push to retract the height adjustment strap without
pushing the release button. Failure to comply may result in product damage.
4. Place the helmet on your head and adjust the headband and height strap
for comfort (
fi
g. 4).
NOTES:
• Make sure the helmet
fi
ts securely on top of your head.
• Make sure the face mask ties are accessible to allow easy removal of the
face mask when donning the hood or toga.
5. Plug the power cord into the battery pack or the battery holster, once con-
nected the fans will automatically turn on (
fi
g. 5).
WARNINGS:
• Keep your
fi
ngers away from the fans during operation.
6. Secure the power cord into the battery pack/battery holster by tightening
the connection at the base of the power cord (
fi
g. 6).
7. Connect the battery pack or battery holster to your waistband or put the
battery into your pocket (
fi
g. 7).
8. Adjust the fan speed for optimal air
fl
ow by tilting your head straight back
then back to your starting position. When done correctly, the helmet will
emit a sound signal and the fan speed will change (
fi
g. 8).
NOTES:
• Familiarize yourself with the gesture controlled fan speed adjustment
before
fi
rst time use in the OR.
• You are now ready to scrub for surgery and don a hood or toga. See the
instructions for use supplied with the hood or toga.
• If the face shield lens begins to fog during use, see the Troubleshooting section.
TO USE A SURGICAL HELMET WITH A HEADLIGHT
9. Push the headlight button to switch the headlight on/o
ff
(
fi
g. 9).
WARNINGS:
• Keep your
fi
ngers away from the headlight body during operation.
• Avoid looking straight into the light beam.
10. Adjust the headlight beam direction with the headlight adjustment handle
(
fi
g. 10).
TO CONTROL FAN SPEED
All
ViVi
®
helmets provide the user with two options to control the fan speed,
manual and automatic. To manually change the fan speed the user will pre-
form the following:
1. From a natural starting position the user should tilt there head straight back.
2. Once a “beep” sound is heard, the fan speed has changed.
3. The user returns there head to the starting position.
The “beep” sound will correspond with the speed of the fan. A low pitch sound will
be heard for the low speed, two “beeps” will be heard for the middle speed and a
higher pitch sound will be heard for the fastest fan speed.
The second option for the fan speed control is an automatic system built into
all
ViVi
®
helmets. When the helmet is powered on it starts in automatic mode;
it can also be placed in automatic mode using the head gestures to reach the
middle speed (two “beeps”). The automatic mode of the helmet will adjust the
speed of the fan based on the activity of the user. As the user becomes more
physically active, the fan will automatically begin to speed up; as activity levels
begin to lower the fan speed will also lower.
NOTES:
• The user can manually switch out of automatic mode at any time using the
previously described head motion.
• Familiarization with the fan speed control system is recommended to
ensure user comfort during operation.
TO DOFF A SURGICAL HELMET
CAUTION:
• DO NOT do
ff
the helmet together with the hood/toga and pull on the hood
to remove it from the helmet. This might damage the helmet.
1. Loosen the power cord from the battery by turning the base of the power
cord in a counter clockwise direction.
2. Unplug the power cord from the battery, the fans will automatically turn o
ff
.
3. Loosen the headband adjustment knob and remove the helmet from your
head.
4. Remove and discard the comfort/soft pads from the helmet. Clean the
helmet and cord. See the Cleaning section. To clean the battery pack, see
the instructions for use supplied with the THI battery charger.

2) sull’a-
dattatore di alimentazione e il LED di alimentazione (pos. 10) sul caricabat-
terie sono ACCESI.
b) PER IL REF 60501: Subito dopo aver inserito il cavo d’alimentazione (pos. 1)
il caricabatterie LED (pos. 10) mostrerà i seguenti colori rosso-giallo-verde,
successivamente si spengerà. (test automatico del caricabatterie)
5. Inserire un pacco batteria (pos. 7) nel vano caricabatterie (pos. 6)
NOTA:
