Sample Preparation Procedure
Preparing the Sample Outside a Glove Box
In order to prepare your sample, you will need a powder
mount, a spatula, a glass slide (as used for
microscopes) and a sample cup.
Caution! The sample cup contains a magnet. Bringing
too close to a magnetic metal will attract it.
If the powder to be measured is too coarse, it's
necessary to grind it a bit using a small mortar.
Fill the sample powder cup with the powder.
The surface of the powder must not exceed the level of
the surface of the powder mount, in order to avoid line
displacement error due to height error. Use a glass slide
to make the surface flat and homogeneous.
Set the Kapton disk in the housing, to make ease the
friction. Do not glue it!
Set the crucible on the housing, by using the clamping
tool. It has been designed for handling crucible in a
glove box.
Check the O-ring is correctly set and does not have
defects.
Set the crucible on the housing. Caution to set the
crucible by taking care of the magnetic field direction.
The risk is that crucible may jump out.
