SECTION 3:
INSTALLATION
3.01 Environment
The A r cMaste r 185 AC/DC is designed fo r use in adve r se
envi r onments.
Examples of envi r onments with inc r eased adve r se
conditions a r e:
a. In locations in which f r eedom of movement is
r est r icted, so that the ope r ato r is fo r ced to pe r fo r m the
wo r k in a c r amped (kneeling, sitting o r lying) position
with physical contact with conductive pa r ts;
b. In locations which a r e fully o r pa r tially limited by
conductive elements, and in which the r e is a high r isk of
unavoidable o r accidental contact by the ope r ato r ;
c. In wet o r damp hot locations whe r e humidity o r
pe r spi r ation conside r ably r educes the skin r esistance of
the human body and the insulation p r ope r ties of
accesso r ies.
Envi r onments with adve r se conditions do not include
places whe r e elect r ically conductive pa r ts, in the nea r
vicinity of the ope r ato r , which can cause inc r eased haza r d,
have been insulated.
3.02 Location
Be su r e to locate the welde r acco r ding to the following
guidelines:
· In a r eas, f r ee f r om moistu r e and dust.
· Ambient tempe r atu r e between 0 deg r ees C to 40
deg r ees C.
·
In a r eas, f r ee f r om oil, steam and co rr osive gases.
· In a r eas, not subjected to abno r mal vib r ation o r
shock.
· In a r eas, not exposed to di r ect sunlight o r r ain.
·
Place at a distance of 12" (304.79mm) o r mo r e f r om
walls o r simila r bounda r ies that could r est r ict natu r al
ai r flow fo r cooling.

3.03 Electrical Input Connections

SHUT DOWN welding powe r sou r ce, disconnect input
powe r employing lockout/tagging p r ocedu r es. Lockout/
tagging p r ocedu r es consist of padlocking line disconnect
switch in open position, r emoving fuses f r om fuse box,
o r shutting off and r ed-tagging ci r cuit b r eake r o r othe r
disconnecting device.
