3. While applying the foot brake, release the park brake using the park brake handle.
4. Tow only as fast as the conditions allow, 6 mph (9.65 km/h) with operable engine and 3 mph (4.8
km/h) with inoperable engine.
5. Tow only the minimum distance required to get the belt loader to a safe location for repairs.
6. Once the tow is complete, place the engine in Neutral position.
7. Reapply the park brake.
8. Chock the wheels of the belt loader.
9. Disconnect the tow straps.

Fire
Procedure
Operators should know how to prevent fires and have a basic understanding of fire-fighting techniques.
Some common causes of vehicle fires are as follows:
•
Operating with low pressure tires
•
Overheated brakes
•
Carelessly placed emergency flares or lamps
•
Short circuits in the electrical system
The model 660-28 can be equipped with a multi-purpose ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher. The fire
extinguisher may be used to extinguish the following fire types:
•
Class A:
fires include burning wood, paper, textiles, tires, etc.
•
Class B:
fires include grease, oil, gasoline, solvents, paints, etc.
•
Class C:
fires occurring in live electrical equipment
Following are recommended basic steps to perform when a fire occurs. Apply and/or adapt these
procedures in adherence to your company’s/station’s procedures as circumstances warrant.
1. Stop the unit in a safe position away from buildings and other vehicles.
2. Notify the appropriate emergency contacts (as outlined in your company’s/ station’s emergency
policies and procedures) and inform them what type of fire is burning.
3. Based on type of fire, take all possible steps to extinguish the fire using the unit’s fire extinguisher
without endangering yourself or others.
4. If the fire is thought to be due to a short-circuit, turn the unit off and disconnect the battery.
