Menu " Display"
You can defi ne the settings for the connected
picture playback device (e.g. TV, projector) here.
" TV standard"
Setting the cross colouring system for the connected
television set:
NTSC
– American standard
PAL
– European standard
In case of doubt, consult the instruction manual of your
television set.
" Resolution"
Set the resolution of the television set for HD playback.
Possible values:
HDMI Auto, 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i
HDMI Auto automatically selects the highest possible
resolution.
Note: The resolution 1080p is only available at the HDMI
output.
You can also make this setting with the special function

" Picture format"
Setting the display on the television:
16:9 Widescreen
– 4:3 fi lms are displayed on a 16:9 TV
set in full height and with stretched width.
16:9 Pillarbox
– 4:3 movies are displayed on a 16:9-TV
set in full height with a black bar on the left and right.
4:3 Pan Scan
– 16:9 movies are shown on a 4:3 televi-
sion set in full height, but the sides are cut off.
4:3 Letterbox
– 16:9 movies are displayed on a 4:3
television set with their full width and black bars on the
top and bottom.
"Movie mode"
Movies are recorded on blu-ray discs with full resolution
and 24 frames/second (1080p24). Not all television
sets are capable of displaying these frame rates and the
picture will fl icker as a result. If this is the case, turn off
the movie mode.
Note: 1080p is only emitted via HDMI. A maximum of
1080i is available at the component output, independ-
ently of the setting "Movie mode".
Menu " Audio"
Here, you can defi ne the audio settings for BD
and DVD playback.
" PCH Downsampling"
Sets the sampling rate for the audio signal. Possible
values:
Off
– not implemented (192 kHz)
96 kHz
– corresponds to DVD quality
48 kHz
– corresponds to CD quality
" Digital output"
Specifi es the audio output at the HDMI output

"HDMI
OUT". Possible values:
PCM 7.1
– Signal is mixed at 7.1 and transmitted as PCM.
Bitstream HD
– Relays the data stream of the blu-ray disc
unchanged.
Bitstream Legacy
– Relays the data stream of the blu-ray
disc in Legacy Audio format. Suitable for Dolby Digital
5.1 or 6.1 and DTS 5.1.
Bitstream Mixed
– Relays the data stream of the blu-ray
disc mixed or coded in a single data stream. Suitable for
Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio.
"Dynamic control"
This function is only active with Dolby Digital and
amplifi es excessively quiet passages while weakening
excessively loud passages. Possible values: On, Off,
Automatic.
Menu " Language"
Here, you defi ne the language for menus, subti-
tles and playback.
OSD menu
– Language for the menu functions (German
or English).
Disc menu
– language for the DVD menus. Multiple
languages are available to the extent your DVD supports
them.
Audio
– Language for DVD playback. Multiple languages
are available if supported by the DVD.
Subtitles
– Subtitle language for DVD playback. Multiple
languages are available if supported by the DVD. The
setting "Off" deactivates the subtitles.
