8 Measuring
8.1 General
8.2 Blocking the display (HOLD function)
– To get reliable measurement results, carefully
clean the measuring faces of your inclinome-
ter as well as the surface to be inspected.
– Always place the inclinometer gently at the
measuring spot.
– Handle your inclinometer vertically, espe-
cially when measuring cylindrical shafts.
Looking at the transversal vial allows you to
easily check the correct position. Any other
position may result in measuring deviations
defined as « Twist error ».
– Depending on the measuring uncertainty you
wish to attain, temperature between the incli-
nometer and the part to be checked requires
your special attention. If necessary, wait until
temperature has stabilised.
– Before starting your measurements, be sure
your settings or configuring operations cor-
respond to your application. A correct display
setting is essential.
Any measured value can be blocked on the dis-
play by activating the HOLD function. If the hold
key is pressed, TESA CLINOBEVEL 2 will regis-
ter the signals of two successive measurements
that are executed automatically. For this opera-
tion, both signals must be identical.
Information
The time needed to measure with HOLD de-
pends strongly of possible vibrations regar-
ding the measured object. In case of too strong
vibrations, it is maybe impossible to measure
twice the same value. In order to registre a defi-
nitif value the sensor has to be placed where
vibrations are weak, the measurement has to

Depending on the amount of vibrations which
may influence the measuring face used to rest
the inclinometer, the value processing prior to
displaying may take some times.
In case the hold function failed – i.e. neither of
the blocked values is displayed – you still have
the possibility to choose another suitable posi-
tion throughout the entire measurement routine.

If CLINOBEVEL 2 doesn’t show an authentic
value within 60 seconds, the message « ERROR
7 » will appear, announcing that the HOLD
function couldn’t be accomplished within 60
seconds.
