suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of

it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in

knocked over. The handle should be stowed during

normal operation.
When moving the unit always use the handle.

Mains Operation

•  Check that the mains voltage on the rating plate is

the same as the voltage in your area.

•  Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to TAPE (OFF).
•  Uncoil the AC power cord fully.
•  Plug the cord into the unit and then plug the mains

plug into the wall socket and switch the mains

power on. The unit is now ready for use.

Battery Operation

•  Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to the 'OFF’

position.

•  Switch the power off at the mains and unplug the

NOTE:

If the unit is not going to be used for some

time or is being run AC power, remove the batteries.
Always replace batteries in good time. Batteries

should be replaced in full sets and all batteries should

be of the same type and rating.

or water.

When disposing of batteries do not throw them in

the general rubbish, a fire or in water. Dispose of

them in full accord with recycling regulations that are

applicable in your area.

only

 by the handle.

•

Do not

 swing the unit around.

•  If you play a CD keep the unit still.
•  Do not drop the unit.
•

Never

carry the unit with the FM antenna

extended.

•  Avoid excessive heat or cold.
•  Do not operate the unit in rain, snow, or where it is

likely to get splashed with water.

•

Do not

play the unit at loud volumes in public

places.

USING THE RADIO

FM Reception

•  Carefully extend the FM antenna fully.
•  Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to ‘RADIO’.
•  Set the BAND switch to FM (St).
•  Select the station using the TUNING KNOB. The

TUNING SCALE will indicate the tuned frequency.

•  Rotate the antenna for best signal quality.
Unless you are listening to an FM programme we

suggest that the antenna is in the stowed position.

Stereo Or Mono?

Stereo offers better quality, but in a bad signal area, it

may be noisy. To set the Radio to Mono and reduce

background noise:
•  Move the BAND switch to FM.

AM Reception

•  Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to RADIO.
•  Set the BAND switch to ‘AM’.
•  Select the station using the TUNING KNOB.
•  Rotate the unit for the best signal quality.
AM is liable to interference from mains appliances,

cars etc. Careful positioning will improve reception.
