Vocal and guitar tracks in imported loops
Please note that each “Track” in the Looper ac-
tually records a stereo Vocal
and
a stereo Guitar
track to facilitate routing of guitar loops to the
guitar outputs.
When importing an audio file as a loop, you can
choose whether this file should go to the Vocal
or Guitar sub-track. This is handy if you want to
ensure that a particular loop sound comes out of
the guitar direct outs.
You can also use this feature to combine two
(identical length, sample-accurate) audio files on
one Loop Track.
This means that if you find e.g. a cool drumbeat
and a bass line, you could import one to “vocal”
and the other to “guitar”. This way, your Loop
Track now contains a “rhythm section”.
Two audio files set for import to the same slot
and track, one assigned to the Vocal sub-track,
the other assigned to the Guitar sub-track
►
Use the Control Knob to navigate up and
down through the audio file list and set the
Slot/Track and Vocal/Guitar parameters using
the Mix Knobs.
►
Tap the Control Knob to flag each audio file
for import. A * will appear next to each select-
ed file.
►
Press and hold the Control Knob to begin the
import process.
Loop import confirmation dialog
If you’re importing a large number of files,
go and watch X-Files for a bit. You do watch
X-Files, right?
Once the files have finished importing, you’ll like-
ly want to go and play around with them.
►
Enter the Loop Layer and navigate to a Slot
you’ve imported a loop to using the UTIL and
Preset Up/Dn buttons.
►
If you press Play, you should see that the tem-
po of the Loop Slot has been set to the tempo
of your imported loop. Magic!
If the device didn’t get the tempo quite right, you
can tap the MET button to bring up a list of al-
ternate tempos that match the length of the im-
ported loop. Tempo alternatives will be half time
or double time.
If the tempo is way off, it’s likely that the loop
isn’t tight to the timing, is in a non-4/4 time sig-
nature or is does not have a “power of two” bar
length.
