Preparing for work
• Before you start planting, carry out a general inspection of the planter, retightening
all bolts and nuts, and also verifying the conditions of all pins and cotter pins in order to
prevent future damage. Repeat this operation after the first day of work.
• Check the pressure of the tires, keeping the same pressure (32 psi).
• Also check if there are not any objects inside the hoppers, which could damage the
distribution sets.
• Lubricate all grease fittings properly. (See lubrication instructions on pages 37 and
38).
Procedures before planting
IMPORTANT
• Fill the planter only at the working place.
• Never transport the planter overloaded
Always consider that the
number of plants at harvest
is less than the
number of
seeds effectively distributed in the planting
, due to factors such as: germination rate,
physical purity, vigor (Provided in the seed pack) as well as pests and diseases that may
occur during the crop cycle.
Also consider that, planter's tires slip or skid while planting, depending on local working
conditions.
Check how to calculate the planter's slip rate:
This rate is obtained by comparing the number of revolutions of the tire when the
planter is empty, and then filled, dislocating it in the land.
With the planter empty and properly hitched to the tractor, mark a starting point on
the ground and on the planter's tire. Move the planter until the tire completes ten (10) laps.
Measure and record the covered distance.
Planning the planting – the right stand
Fill the planter, repeat the above procedures, and record the covered distance.
