Once this has completed, your computer will load Windows. Now quickly press and
hold the
[F8]
key.

This will display a boot menu. Use the cursors keys to select
Safe Mode
and
press
[Enter]
. This process must be performed quickly. The menu includes a visible
countdown timer that launches the normal mode after a certain time.

Windows will boot in safe mode. Don’t be afraid of the strange look of the screen
picture. As your computer will only load the most necessary drivers and components,
the screen display will be very large and with unusual colours. This is normal.

Launch the System Restore just as in Normal mode from the Start menu and run
the repair procedure. The program will work in exactly the same way as described
above. Select the desired checkpoint and restore the system. The computer will
restart automatically after the process has finished.
Next you can restart Windows normally or perform further adjustments or correc-
tions.
3.4 Restoring the System by Using the System
Recovery Software
Your Targa PC contains completely new Recovery software that lets you restore
your PC gradually into a normal operating status. The program uses different
options for different degrees of recovery.
•
Restore Boot Files Only
This will restore the hard disk boot sector. Select this option if Windows has not
been damaged but you are unable to launch it from the hard disk.

Restore System Files
This option allows you to restore all system files of your computer and/or Win-
dows. After this, Windows will be set up in its factory-default configuration and
can be started again. Select this option if Windows has been damaged in a
severe way and the option
Restore Boot Files Only
did not help.
•
Restore All Files (Leaves User Files Unchanged)
If none of the previous options helped, you need to restore the entire system.
This will bring the computer’s and the Windows configuration back to its factory-
default state. Your personal data will not be destroyed or erased.
•
Complete Restore (All Files will be Deleted)
Unfortunately, sometimes it may be necessary to completely restore the original
factory configuration. This option is equivalent to the configuration when you
