3.13. Connection of a SUSI module
Background information: SUSI interface
The SUSI interface is an interface for connecting extension modules (e.g.
sound modules, function modules) to vehicle decoders. The characteristic
values are defined in the RailCommunity standard RCN-600.
The standard describes three mechanically and electrically different versions:
classic SUSI (the interface known since 2003): Mainly used for nominal size H0
micro SUSI: mainly used for nominal size N
power SUSI: mainly used for larger nominal sizes with higher current requirements
The locomotive decoder LD-G-43 has a classic SUSI interface to which e.g. a sound module
can be connected. The plug system used for this interface is designed to be protected against
polarity reversal.
Plug the cable socket soldered to the SUSI module into the SUSI interface on the back of the
decoder. The SUSI module is controlled and programmed via the LD-G-43.
3.14. Completion
After completing all connections, you should take the following measures to permanently
protect the decoder from damage:
Secure the decoder to prevent short circuits through contact with metal parts of the
vehicle. You can use double-sided adhesive tape or a decoder holder (item no. 70-01810 or
70-01820) for this purpose.
When putting on the housing, make sure that no connection cables are pinched. This can
damage the insulation, which can cause short circuits and thus damage the decoder. It is
recommended to secure the cables with cable ties.
4. Programming
4.1. Programming with DCC central units
From the control unit you can program the configuration variables (CVs) of the decoder, main
track programming is also possible. Please refer to the relevant section in the instructions of
your control unit, which describes the byte-by-byte programming of the CV variables (Direct
Programming) or the main track programming (PoM).
Register programming is not supported by the LD-G-43. You cannot program the decoder with
DCC control units that only allow register programming.
