48 Operating in trunked mode
Depending on how your radio is programmed, you
may be able to use a function key to set up a preset
call.
About trunked zones and
workgroups
Trunked zones and workgroups are used to manage
the calls on the trunked system. Zones typically define
geographic areas (towns, suburbs or counties), or
branches of an organization. Workgroups span
multiple zones, and typically define functions, work
areas or job roles.
When your radio belongs to a workgroup, it is said to
be ‘subscribed’, and you receive all calls directed to
that group of users. A group’s members are dynamic,
in that a group only contains radios that are currently
registered on the system and subscribed to the
same group.
Your radio may be programmed to use different
names for a ‘zone’ and ‘workgroup’.
For example, ‘district’ or ‘area’ may be used in
place of zone, and ‘role’ or ‘group’ may be used
in place of workgroup.
Selecting a zone
Depending on how your radio is programmed, you
may be able to use the channel selector to select a
zone.
