Battery Charging and
Conditioning
There are two types of
chargers available for your
radio: A desktop fast
charger (shown left) and a
multi-charger (see page
79). Instructions for using
the fast charger also apply
to the multi-charger.
A vehicle charging kit is also available, allowing the
radio to be charged from a vehicle’s power supply.
Installation and user information are supplied with the
vehicle kit.
Using the Charger
The battery charger can be used to:
■
Charge batteries.
■
Short condition batteries.
■
Long condition batteries.
Before First Use
Before using the radio for the first time:
■
Fully charge the battery (see ‘Charging the Battery’
on page 73).
■
Long condition the battery (see ‘Long Conditioning
the Battery’ on page 75).
After First Use
Charge the battery as soon as the radio indicates the
battery is low (the low battery icon (
) flashes, the
radio gives a low-pitched beep every 5 seconds and the
LED flashes red at slow flash rate).
