These buttons are used to:
•
select the previous / next track during playback;
•
select a track when producing a MEMO program.
/
/
Fast rewind / fast forward to search for a particular pas-
sage.
This button is used to store, change and check a MEMO
program.
Pressing this button sets one of two time markers (
A
and
B
) on the current CD. The passage between the two
markers can then be repeated as often as you wish by
pressing the
button again.
This button switches the phase of the signal from normal
to inverse phase and back. When you press the
button the screen displays the current phase -
'NORMAL'
or
'INVERTED'
- for a period of about one
second.
The human ear is certainly capable of detecting absolute
phase when listening to particular instruments and voi-
ces.
However, absolute phase is not always correct on com-
mercial recordings, and in this case you can invert it (i. e.
turn it through 180°) by pressing this button.
The correction occurs at the digital level and therefore
has no effect at all on sound quality.
Note:
The symbol
on the screen glows continuously when
INVERSE mode is switched on.
Pressing this button causes the currently active digital
filter to be displayed on the screen for a period of about
one second, e. g.:
'FILTER 1'
.
During this period pressing the
button repeatedly
calls up and selects the five available digital filters in
turn. For more information on filters please refer to the
Section
'
Technical description, Digital filters / Over-
sampling
'
.
Note:
A continuously glowing code number (
1
...
4
) on the
screen indicates the active filter. If no number is lit, the
standard filter is active.
This switch toggles between the two display modes of
the
CD-Player
.
1.
Track display:
The screen shows the operational mode and the run-
ning track number, e.g.:
'PLAY 12'
.
2.
Time display:
Instead of the operational mode
'PLAY'
the screen
displays the elapsed playing time of the current track,
e.g.:
'10,30 12'
.
Screen brightness adjustment.
On the
CD-Player
the brightness of the screen can be
set to any of three values to suit your personal preferen-
ce. This is done by pressing the
button; the fol-
lowing brightness values are available:
1.
Normal setting:
Easy to read even by day and in sunlight
2.
Darkened:
Subdued setting, for darker ambient conditions
3.
Screen switched off:
The screen is switched off completely
If you set brightness level 2 or 3 the screen is activated
briefly every time you change a setting, and switches to
normal brightness. This makes it easier to check the
settings even from some distance. After about four se-
conds the screen switches back automatically to the
previously selected brightness value.
