Connection diagrams for monitors/TVs
The
K6
supports the three picture norms Standard
Video, S-Video and Component Video; Component
Video supplies the best possible picture quality. To ob-
tain optimum picture quality we recommend that you wire
your system as follows:
-
If your AV source device features both Standard Video
and S-Video outputs, configure it to S-Video mode and
connect it to the S-Video inputs of the
K6
(VCR / STB).
In this case it is necessary to set the
K6
to „YC“ for that
source device in the picture norm menu.
-
If the AV source device connected to the STB input
also generates video signals to the Component Video
norm, then this device can also be connected to the
Component Video IN input of the
K6
. However, this
only makes sense if the picture display device also
features Component Video inputs.
-
If the picture display device (TV, projector, plasma
monitor etc.) only offers Standard Video inputs, the de-
vice must be connected to the
K6
’s Standard Video
output ‘TV / Monitor’. If an S-Video input is present on
the picture display device, this should be given prefer-
ence: connect it to the S-Video output socket ‘TV /
Monitor’. If the picture display device also includes a
Component Video input, this should also be connected
to the
K6
’s Component Video Out output.
-
The correct choice of colour norm (RGB / YUV [YPbPr
/ YCbCr]) for the system’s Component Video function
depends on two factors: the AV source device con-
nected to the Component Video In sockets, and the
picture display device connected to Component Video
Out. Component Video can only be used if both de-
vices use the same colour norm. In this case the com-
mon colour norm must be set in the
K6
’s picture norm
menu to ensure that DVDs play back correctly, and
that the OSD menus are displayed properly. If the AV
source and the picture display device do not share a
common colour norm, then you should select the col-
our norm setting which matches the display device, as
this ensures at least that the signal from the
K6
’s inte-
gral DVD player is reproduced at best possible picture
quality. In this case the Component Video In input can-
not be used.
-
To watch a picture signal using the Component Video
norm you must select the Component Video input on
the picture display device; to watch a Standard Video
or S-Video picture signal select the Standard or S-
Video input as required.
Caution
To reproduce a picture signal using the RGB colour norm
a synchronisation signal is required in addition to the
Component Video signal. This is contained in the Standard
Video signal (CVBS) and the S-Video signal (Y-pin of Y/C).
For this reason a Standard Video or S-Video connection
must be present between the Component Video source
device and the STB input of the
K6
if you wish to use RGB
mode; a Standard Video connection must also be present
between the
K6
’s TV / Monitor output and the synchroni-
sation input of the picture display device.
Note
Your TV set must be correctly configured in order to
operate correctly with the
K6
. You must select an AV
input on your TV set which supports the video norm you
have set on the
K6
.
