7. Screw the new filter by hand
until the filter gasket contacts
the mounting surface (a small
resistance will be felt).
NOTE: To tighten the oil filter
properly, it is important to accu-
rately identify the position at
which the filter gasket first con-
tacts the mounting surface.
8. Mark the top dead center posi-
tion on the “cap type” filter
wrench or on the oil filter. Use
an oil filter wrench to tighten
the filter 2 turns or to specified
torque.
Oil filter tightening torque:
20 N·m (2.0 kgf-m, 14.5 lbf-ft)

the correct design and thread
specifications can damage
your motorcycle’s engine.
Be sure to use a genuine
Suzuki oil filter or an equiva-
lent one designed for your
motorcycle.
