Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation
Power Supply
The 1029U-TN12RV has a redundant 1200W power supply, consisting of two power supply
modules. These power supplied are auto-switching capable, which enables it to automatically
sense and operate with a 100V to 240V input voltage.
Power Supply Failure
If either of the two power supply modules fail, the other module will take the full load and
allow the system to continue operation without interruption. The Power Fail LED will illuminate
and remain on until the failed unit has been replaced. Replacement units can be ordered
directly from Supermicro.
Replacing the Power Supply
Begin by removing power from the failed power supply.
1. Releasing the retention screws that secure the chassis to the rack, then grasp the two
handles on either side and pull the system straight out until it locks (you will hear a
"click").
2. Unplug the AC power cord from the failed power supply module.
3. Push in the locking tab at the back of the module to release it.
4. Pull the unit straight out of the chassis.
5. Insert the new unit into the chassis, pushing until it clicks.
6. Plug the AC power cord back into the module.
