1.4 Server Chassis Features
Control Panel
The switches and LEDs located on the control panel are described below. See Chapter 4 for
details on the control panel connections.

NIC1 LED
Indicates network activity on LAN port 1 when flashing

HDD LED
Indicates activity on the hard drive when flashing.

Power LED
Indicates power is being supplied to the system's power supply unit. This LED should
normally be illuminated when the system is operating.

UID Button
Depressing the UID (unit identifier) button illuminates an LED on the front and rear of
the chassis for easy system location in large stack configurations. The LED will remain
on until the button is pushed a second time. Another UID button on the rear of the
chassis serves the same function.

Reset Button
Use this button to reset the system.

Power Button
The main power button is used to apply or remove power from the power supply to
the server. Turning off system power with this button removes the main power but
maintains standby power. To perform many maintenance tasks, you must also unplug
system before servicing.

Fan failure, check for an inoperative fan.

UID has been activated locally to locate the server

server in a rack environment.
