Installing the logs - 40” and 45” Traditional Models
The logs have notches/tabs to assist proper positioning. Upper logs rest on lower logs via notches/tabs. Proper log
placement is critical to prevent sooting. Place the logs in the gaps between flame peaks, so they do not impinge the
flames. Follow the log placement instructions precisely.
NOTE: Do not cover the burner ports.

2. Locate the log placement brackets (not all are shown) (Figure 51).

3. Position rear log (1) on the left rear log bracket (Figure 51 and 52).
4. Position the left front log (2) and the right front log (3) against the log rack (Figure 52).
5. Position the right cross log (4) over the right front log (3) (Figure 53).

6. Position the left cross log (5) on the left rear log bracket and over left front log (2) (Figure 54).
NOTE: Fireplace is shown with optional brick panels.
NOTE: It is important to ensure proper log placement per the
manual when installing these units. Verify pilot flame is not
obstructed. See Verifying Appliance Operation on Page 39.
